Chile is Latin America’s fifth-largest economy and benefits from numerous free trade agreements, including participation in the Pacific Alliance and the CPTPP, bolstering its global trade ties. The country is renowned for its strong economic management and open-market policies.

As the world’s largest copper producer, accounting for about a quarter of global output, and a significant producer of lithium, crucial for electric batteries, Chile’s economy heavily relies on mining. It also excels in agriculture, particularly in fish, fruit, and wine production.

Despite being hailed as a model of economic progress in Latin America, the country’s relatively high GDP per capita masks significant income inequality and poverty. Widespread discontent ultimately led to the election of a leftist government.
